Who we are

This is Jacob. My four partners and I are extremely interested in this scheme. Two of us graduated from Chinese Cuisine Training Institute and have been a dim sum chef for two years. We are good at making diversified dim sum and keep trying to break the tradition. We have designed many healthy and special dim sum and won many medals. Besides, three of my partners who got a master degree of marketing, accounting and logistic respectively. All of us always want to get a chance to start our business and which can exert our professions. And we hope to share our interests to tourists and citizen, let more people taste dim sum and also promote the local culture at the same time. Therefore, my partners and I wrote this proposal as follow.

What type of food we serve and why

As we are dim sum chefs, definitely, we would like to serve dim sum in the truck. Since the truck will be allowed to operate at six tourist spots, tourists must be the main customer source. And dim sum is a representative local food, it is well-known by tourists. According to the magazine Conde Nast Traveler and report conducted by CNN, dim sum is the most popular local food in Hong Kong that tourists must try. It showed that dim sum is very famous among foreigners and they would love to try.

We have designed some special and healthy dim sum to sale. We would add spinach and carrot into flour to make the siu mai. Spinach rich in vitamin B6 and iron, which can prevent the iron deficiency anemia and maintain the blood glucose level. And carrot rich in calcium, iron and vitamin A, it can enhance immune system function. Moreover, we would choose less-fat pork to make siu mai, barbecued pork bun and rice-roll with barbecued pork. At the same time, vegetarian dumpling and rice-roll with vegetarian stuffing will be served. Moreover, we would use olive oil instead of other oils for making all dim sum.

What’s more? We would produce different types of buns as well as different figures of cartoon characters and animals. For example, panda bun, pig bun and mickey bun. These kinds of buns will become very popular among children and female. And we expect the sale of these buns will be higher when the truck is operated in theme parks.

It is not only attractive to tourists, but also to the locals. As the awareness of health has been raised a lot among the world, these healthy dim sum would be a good option for many people especially the elderly and kids.


The truck design and why

The food truck design will mainly be old Hong Kong design. I recommend that our food truck can use famous Hong Kong comic characters of Old Master Q (老夫子) . The comic primarily focuses on humor, as we want our customers be happy when they buy our foods. Moreover, our foods’ style is mainly traditional Chinese style. Old Master Q can represent the changing of social trends, particularly from 1960s to 1990s.

Also, the truck design can use deep red color as background color. Then we paint the pictures that the Master Q character are visiting and tasting our food on the body of food truck. Using deep red color, which can represent the traditional Chinese. In addition, using characters of Old Master Q can also let foreigners know more about traditional Hong Kong culture.

Furthermore, the Old Master Q painting on the truck can tasting painted that they are eating in the Cantonese restaurant[1]. The food that in the restaurant should be related to our food, like dim sum. Thus, it can represent our products and let people recognize what we are selling. Finally, the color of the painting should be simple and not too colorful.

Operations and logistics

First, we would like to promote our idea through social network platform. Developing goodwill is the beginning and essential point to sell our product. In order to make us more popular in the fastest way, promote it on a platform would be the first choice. For example, developing a fans page on Facebook that Hong Kong citizens and foreign travelers can check our products and information easily. Also, Weibo is one of the most popular website that China citizens always chatting on it, we can promote our product from Weibo as well as Facebook.

Next, in order to attract more potential customers to buy our products, we need to decide a food plan that is suitable for difference age groups. We sell the product in financial area and theme park, so we expect our target consumers prefer high quality of food and willing to pay a high price for what they want.

Physical resources need:

Moreover, we would like to find some food suppliers to provide us raw materials of making food and ready-made food. It is important to make a series of food. Also, some making machines are required. In the process of making food, machines can help for save time and increase productivity.

Human resources need:

Frontline working team

As we start our business, we need to have a good human allocation. We need 5 workers in the frontline, 2 workers for packaging food, 1 worker for cashier, 2 workers for making food. Workers will help each other if one part of them is busy immediately.

Marketing department

Hong Kong is a potential market of good; the change of customer needs is directly affecting our company future that earns money or loss. We decide to hire 4 people and divide into two groups. They conduct marketing researchers and monitoring customer needs in a period. Also, they made promotion and advertisement to attract more customers.

Financial Department

One accountant will be hired. Accountant responses calculate our operation fees and budgets. The profits and losses, expenses and sales are necessary to calculate. Moreover, knowing the budgets help us to maintain the finance on the breaks even level.

There will be a promotion of our company, we will to advertisement through Wei Bo and Facebook..

We will do a pilot run and we will have interview with customers in the period.

Final Implementation

January/2016-January 2018

We will organize the regular event and we will continue to have interview to our customers.

January/2016-January 2018

We will do promotion on every important festival.
