There is many different ways to raise a child; it depends on what culture you come from. And there are also a lot of different views on which way to raise a child is the right way. One of the most discussed ways to raise a child is the Chinese way. Amy Chua writes in her article, that her way to raise a child is the right way.
The article ''Why Chinese Mothers Are Superior'' is written by the 48-year-old Amu Chua. Amy Chua is an American-Chinese and a qualified lawyer and today she has a professorship at Yale Law School. This article was published in The Wall Street Journal on January 8th 2011. Chua compares how the Chinese children are raised, and how the western children are raised. She means that the western parents are often ''too good'' with their children, compared to Chinese parents, they would keep pushing their children and their boundaries all the time and keep them motivated for achieving a goal and become something one day and they do it even if the children do not want to. Amy means that children are not old enough to make choices themselves, so there for the parents would have to make them for them.
Amy Chua makes these statements in the text ''Chinese parents can order their kids to get straight As.'' and ''Western parents can only ask their children to try their best.'' And by this she means that western parents are weaker than Chinese parents. Western parents should use punishment and make their children feel ashamed, instead of being careful and loving all the time. She gives an example for how the western parent and how the Chinese parent would react if their child came home with an A-minus: The Chinese parent would go all crazy and would not understand the child. On the other side would a western parent support and compliment the child. If you raise a child like Amy Chua, your child would never get a B.
Amy Chua, is writing really provocative through the article but also very intelligent at the same time, the headline ''Why Chinese Mothers Are Superior'' is catching the reader's attention and it causes outrage among the Westerners. The Wall Street Journal is a newspaper that only is published in the Western countries and that is why the article is so provocative, it is an attack on the western parents and how they raise their children. Western people believes if a child is happy and is social comfortable that it is more important than being successful but not happy, but the Chinese people thinks the opposite of it, because of course hard studying brings you ahead in life, but there shall be a limit that shows when a lot becomes too much. Western people are lazy and think that the social skills is more important than the academics skills, the Westerners should maybe be stricter in parenting, like the Chinese people. And that is the message in this article, that the westerners should be stricter, because
