As a general observation ten years ago, it showed that children were better behaved especially towards their elders and parents then they are now days. Now it's no surprise to find kids yelling at the adults while demanding to be bought for something. It is now common for a child to be sent to do a certain task and the child will deliberately refuse to obey. Children exhibit bad behavior through lack of respect toward their own parents as well as other people. Children show lack of respect to their parents by shouting at them when denied something, by calling them names such as stupid and ugly among other commonly used names.
Even today the manners that children learned in elementary don’t show up in younger kids and teens. One would simply beg the question, "why has the child behavior deteriorated?" My opinion is the fact that parents rarely spank their child. This has attributed to children having lost morals. A wise adage once said, "spare the rod spoil the child." Its not a mystery that child behavior became even worse after the abolishment of physical punishment. Now there are numerous television shows showing kids disobeying their elders. These children do not know what is right or wrong for them anymore.
In an opinion poll, it shows that 70% of responders believe that child behavior has worsened over the years. Examples of these responses include poor behavior at restaurants, impatience in personality, poor word usage on Internet, and many more. Thirty percent of responders responded that because the cause of increasing level in obesity, kids’ behavior has risen. Some people wrote that schools nowadays are more focused in education, compared to before, where teachers were told to teach about respect in detail. This research was very interesting to view, as people had diverse opinions.
Now in this generation child behavior is much worse than it was years ago. Disrespect for authority figures the fault lies with the parents to be sure. Parents are told to cater to children's emotional "needs" and that corporal punishment is bad for them. Children require constant training, patience and love - most of today's parents are too busy or selfish to make this kind of investment. If children are allowed to control and manipulate their parents as in the description above, the parent will be helpless to teach that child anything.
As I conclude, I am of the opinion that child behavior is worse now than it was years ago, and it is likely to keep getting worse. Therefore, parents and teachers in school need to be more stern against their children. I would advocate that they nip the problem in the bud before its gets too late to reform a rotting society of ill mannered children.
