Canada Healthcare
In the Canadian health care system, the Canadian Health Act states that all citizens have access to health care no matter who they are. It is considered a universal healthcare system. Due to Canadians providing healthcare to all citizens the mortality rates are low and life expectancy is longer. A person's class, background, health, age, or gender can't determine or stop them from receiving the same level of care. People financial standards can't affect them from receiving care due to them not having the ability to pay their premiums (Canadian Health Care, 2007). In the Canadian basic health care system certain services are not covered such as optometry, dental, and prescriptions so citizens would have to purchase private insurance in order to get those services covered. Unlike the U.S., Canadians doesn't have to pay co-payments, fill out numerous forms, or for-profit. A big portion of the health care cost is paid for by the government, which is public funding. There is some political controversy about the whole all civilian has access debate due to some people feeling that Canada should be like the U.S.
Analysis the types of health care businesses in your community, including hospitals, nursing homes, physicians, dentists, and home health. Use the internet, phonebook, and/or Chamber of Commerce as data sources. Summarize your findings in one page. Be certain to cite references used.
There aren’t too many clinics I know of here in Leeds, Al because it is a small city the one I did find was the Women’s Wellness Clinic which is a private practice. The preventative care they provide are screenings such as cervical cancer screening, breast and ovarian screening, osteoporosis screening, and STD screening. The other services provided are premenstrual syndrome management, menopause management, fitness, dietary and nutrition counseling, and weight loss program. There care and services is for women to provide them with a full range of gynecologic and obstetrical prevention and wellness. The clinic has one physician and one nurse practitioner and the physician at women wellness clinic is affiliated with St. Vincent’s East Hospital. The physician at that facility has three years of experience and provides a full range of gynecology services from your initial exam through menopause and beyond that can be beneficial for women patients. It would be a great facility in getting a lot of women issues taking care of where they would not have to go through a hospital unless necessarily required.
