Good Entrepreneurial qualities (Bossidy, 57)
(Bossidy, 57) asserts that in order to be a good entrepreneur, proper leadership is paramount in the running of a business organization entity. A good leader must know their employees and their business. They must also insist on realism, set achievable goals, expand people's capabilities and reward excelling employees. Leaders must keep in touch with the welfare of the employees and with the outworking of the firms objectives. This calls for a leader to be sociable and courteous.
(Bossidy, 63) affirms that for effective leadership, being present at the work place allows a leader to connect personally with their employees. Personal connections with employees helps them buildan intuitive feel for the business as well as for the management. Dick Brown, a leader at EDS, had personal connections at all the levels of operation at the company. This helped in fostering a degree of passion and commitment among the people involved.
(Bassidy, 70) reaffirms that along with having clear objectives within an organization, the management must strive for simplicity. Efficient leaders must communicate in a simple, direct and effective way. They must also be open minded while dealing with their employees. Following through an organization's duties helps them in executing them effectively.
Good customer relations (Mitroff, 11)
Good customer relations entail meeting customers need to the best of their satisfaction. In a business setting good customer relations also apply to how a business treats individuals within and outside the environs of a business unit. Business products must also meet the customers quality and expectation. (Mitroff, 18) gives an example of J&J company6 which behaved in an admirable way and handled it customers in a proper way. Dealing in pharmaceuticals, J&J Company was faced with a tricky situation when their products were contaminated. Though the perpetrators were not caught, J&J company handled the situation very well that many in the corporate world still regard it as one of the best pharmaceutical farms. The st5ong corporate culture, values and credo helped the management of J&J to deal with the matter without turning the public against the company (Mitroff, 19). From this example, how an organization deals with the public and its customers plays a big role in the success of a business.
Disaster preparedness and Crisis Management (Mitroff, 27)
Since disasters are unpredictable, business entities must always be prepared to counter any unforeseen events that may affect the business negatively. (Mitroff, 76) states that every organization must put in place measures to control any form of a disaster.
