Exceptional business communication in the workplace is extremely important to one's success as well as the success of the organization. The uses of both written and verbal skills are necessary to convey ideas and information effectively within a business. Business Communication plays a significant role in one's day-to-day life. One uses several forms of communication to manage the logistics of a business or organization. Building productive business connections are dependent on relaying clear and cohesive information back and forth.
Important Role Business Communications Play
Business communication is extremely helpful in managing one's daily work activities because it allows one to relay important data constantly. Communicating back and forth whether it is written or oral empowers one to stay abreast of a situation almost instantly. The business relationship will benefit greatly from a steady stream of communication. Memos, telephone calls and e-mails help one to plan meetings by preparing the necessary materials for one's audience.
Business Communication Trends in the Workplace
Technology in the workplace was once a trend but today is the norm. The use of laptops with e-mail, Blackberry's and other smart phones, telephone and video conferencing are some popular trends used in the workplace.
The most used form of communication today aside from the telephone is e-mail. E-mail is almost instant and allows both users to read, save, and edit information. E-mails can be sent and retrieved from both a computer as well as a smartphone. This allows an individual to correspond even while he or she is mobile and out of the office. E-mail also allows employees within the same organization in different locations to transfer pertinent information back and forth. Organizations can open offices in different cities and states but still operate in unity.
Blackberry's, IPhone's and other smartphones give an individual the option to do business on the run. One has access to e-mail, calendar, and Internet. Smartphones serve as hand held computers for the user. The capabilities of a smartphone are extraordinary today. An individual can conduct business as he or she would in the office from their mobile phone. One can schedule meetings, edit a document, send messages and answer phone calls all from a single device.
Conference calls are popular because it allows individuals domestically and internationally to meet via the telephone without costly phone bills. The individual who sets up the conference call is given a toll-free number and passcode for participants to use. Each individual logs into the call from his or her remote locations. Important meetings can take place this way. For a fee conference calls can be recorded and transcribed into an e-mail for future review.
