Boondock Saints

The Boondock Saints, a comic movie that stars two fraternal twins. The two twins, Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus become law enacting civilians following their killing of two members of a Russian Mafia in self-protection. Following an experience of sudden realization, the twins in unison with their friend, proceed to ensure that their home town has no crime and evil. The movie, a brilliant crime thriller that properly depicts the evils that take place in society and go unpunished (Wilson 20). There are emergent arguments and counter arguments in the judgment of whether what the Boondock saints did falls to good or evil. This paper argues that what the Boondock saints did falls in the good.

The two brothers referred to saints following their murder of terrorist mafia group members in self defense. They set out to murder the members of the mafia group after realizing that the law, which should take part in the protection of the civilians, portrays leniency on how to deal with the group. Following an increased rate of crime and evil in Boston, there arises the need for action from the law to safeguard the civilians from acts of wrongdoers. The Boondock saints take on the role of murdering evil societal members on behalf of the law enforcers. Since, the law enforcers do not take immediate action on the matter, what the Boondock saints are not evil but good. Evil and crime are matters of concern that happen within a short period and the longer the law delays, the more the cases of crime and evil. By murdering the wrongdoers, it ensures that those taking part in the crime are eradicated and so are the crimes (Wilson 30).

The Boondock saints, appear to have initially face confrontation from the terrorists, meaning that they did not just set out to eradicate evil and crime for no reason. Hence, they acted in self defense, legalized by the law. Individuals should not go to trial for murder, when the murder takes place due to self defense. What the Boondock saints did falls to the good bracket, because they only acted to defend themselves from murder by members of the mafia group. This can relate to every civilian, for instance, if it happens a person gets murdered by evil men for no reason, society would agree that such individuals deserve a death sentence (Wilson 20). In the same way, the murders committed by the Boondock saints only targeted the evil members of the society, in line with the accepted norm.
