Resume´:

Billy is forced to go to boxing by his father, even though he is poor. One day, Billy is too boxing, he sees that in the room next to the dance ballet. Billy let himself be persuaded to participate in ballet lesson by the teacher's daughter. When Billy's father discovers his son's interest in the ballet he becomes furious, and Billy is taken away from the room. The teacher has seen Billy's talent and not giving up.

What genre is the film?

Billy loves ballet and loves the dancing routine, he wouldn’t give up on it just because his father and other people can’t like it and want him to go to boxing instead of ballet.

Structure:

Prelude: Billy is jumping in his bed

Presentation: we meet the family in their house

Clarification: Billy had a conversation with his dag, but the clarification in this film is the strike in the country. And the problem about money because they don’t have the money to help Billy and his ballet

Point of no return: Billy went to the ballet school, and there is no way back

Escalation: Billy’s father sitting in the bus, while Tony shoots stuff on the bus. Tony sees the father, and begins to run after him.

Climax: Billy gets his letter from the ballet school, and the tension is released because they do not have to think about it anymore.

Fade-out: Billy’s father and brother were coming to se him in the last scene. Billy will be dancing the swan and this scene is also the end

Characters and setting

Billy is eleven years old, he goes to boxing against his will, he lives in England with his father and his big brother Tony and his grandmother. He loves to dance even his father though that dancing is a girly thing. He misses his mom every day, and he thinks about her. Billy gets flashback when he plays at the piano.


This story about Billy Elliot takes place in mining in northeast England in 1884. Billy’s father and also his brother work in the mining industry, and they are part of a strike. The conditions are tough, and they have to burn their mother’s piano to get wood. Billy also lives in one of these brick houses. The last scene shows Billy giving a performance at the Royal Ballet School, with his father, brother, and his friend Michael.

The main theme:
The main theme in Billy Elliot is about the social heritage. His father does not want him to be like his brother, and want him to be a good boy when he gets older.


Choose one significant:

Billy jumps in his bed in the beginning of the film.
Also when he dance the ballet, its shows his emotional. And when Billy had a problem, he uses the ballet to get rid of them. When Billy is in trouble or when things are going wrong, he is seen running up the hill. In the closing scene, we see Billy at twenty-five, jumping on a stage performing as a beautiful swan show us confidence, power and authority, and later in the movie, Billy it seen dancing, kicking and trapping in combat boots, showing anger and defiance.
