Problem and Suggested Resolutions
Problem: Among the general public there is low awareness of the security vulnerabilities of Apple products. A long living myth, that Apple products are immune to viruses and malware, has been circulating amongst many consumers. Due to the positive effect this myth has on product sales, Apple is not in a hurry to inform its potential consumers otherwise. Over the years, the number of vulnerabilities found in Apple's product security has been increasing at a higher percentage than many other companies. The public's lack of knowledge on this problem has discouraged Apple from promptly coming out with security updates.
This problem may continue to grow and eventually become openly known to the public. When this problem reaches that point, Apple's sale will be negatively affected by this problem.
Solution: Instead of benefiting from the consumer's expense, the company should enlighten users about their security vulnerabilities. Once consumers know about its security flaws, they have the option now to protect themselves. As soon as Apple product users decide to take extensive measure to prevent security hacks, there will be less incentive for hackers to infiltrate mac computer system because of the low rate of success.
Problem: Steve Jobs built many important products during his time at Apple, such as the iPad, iPhone, Macs and etc. His most important product would be Apple Inc., the company itself. Jobs managed to create a supremely well-organized company; a company that many investors believed to be organized around an irreplaceable man, Steve Jobs. Now that Jobs is gone, investors are not optimistic about the future of the company.
Solution: Tim Cook is the new CEO of Apple. Investors and the public simply have to put more faith in Tim Cook, and his ability to continue Apple's success. Although Cook and Jobs are two different people, Cook has abundant experience in running Apple. Cook served as Apple CEO for two months in 2004, when jobs was recovering from pancreatic cancer. He again served as CEO of Apple when Jobs took several months off for a liver transplant.
Problem: When Steve Jobs was CEO, Apple was often criticized for its lack of well-established philanthropy programs. They have been compared to their competitors, Google and Microsoft who both have been generous to charity. Apple do have a few programs such as discount for students and it participation in ProductRed, but these charitable have been overlooked as just another way of marketing their products.
