Part I
A personal action plan is a plan you develop to meet personal goals. Instead of focusing on a career goal, consider the personal goals that might help you eventually meet your career goal, or think of goals you want to accomplish for personal satisfaction. These often relate to education or professional development, aside from the focus of your chosen career. In developing a personal action plan, you will look at your personal strengths and weaknesses and your ability to think strategically, and you will identify the goals you want to achieve. Answer the following questions to help you prepare for your action plan.
* Based on the program outcomes listed above, your program reflection from Week Two, and your program questionnaire from Week One, what would you identify as your greatest strengths? My greatest strengths would be that I after being out of high school for several years I made the choice to go back to school. I have always wanted to work in the health care field and helping people any way that I can. There have been times that I wanted to walk away but I kept pushing myself to finish my goal that was set many years ago.
* Based on the program outcomes listed above, your program reflection from Week Two, and your program questionnaire from Week One, what would you identify as areas you need to improve? My areas that need improvement would be that I need to be more positive with myself and not be so shy. It is hard for me to open up and just talk especially in front of a large crowd.
* How do you feel you have accomplished the ability to strategize and critically think during the course of your program? I think that I have been able to strategize and critically think throughout my courses within the program by reading each of the assignments and then researching the materials throughout the weekly assignments and through the university library. If I was not able to find what I was looking for I would then Google and find answers.
* How have your ethical and personal perspectives evolved since you started this program? Since I have started the program my ethical and personal perspectives have changed a lot. I struggled throughout high school and it took me a while to decide to go back to school. I was a single mom of 2 trying to raise both kids on a minimum wage job. I had no choice but achieve my long dream of going back to school and making something of myself and to be able to give my children more. I was nervous the first day of class and thought it would be impossible to finish but I have stayed with the program and in a little over 4 years I have not only completed my Associates program but I am almost finished with my Bachelor program. This was more than I thought I could when I first started.
