A Plan for Positive Influence
As a Noncommissioned Officer in the United States Army, the assigned team leader faces the challenge to create a plan that would motivate other teammates, bring satisfaction, and stimulate high performance. Although programs and policies to activate and maintain motivation require time and monetary resources, these relatively justify the need to build commitment toward achievements. Communicating goals helps to support the desire for everyone to exceed expectations. The team leader must first identify the type of behavior expected from the other members and the right environment. The leader must become attentive to the job responsibilities; provide recognition and monetary incentives, enhance quality of work life, and show patience. Throughout the year, the leader must consistently provide coaching and mentoring, especially for someone who lack energy and enthusiasm.
Dynamics within the Plan
Satisfied individuals usually exert the most potential to succeed and work diligently to promote success within the company. The team leader must provide a comfortable environment and the flexibility of approach with an open door for everyone to communicate. To keep synergy, a meeting must take place monthly to allow shared thoughts and expression of job responsibilities and the productivity level. The combined effort allows the opportunity for feedback necessary to determine satisfaction.
Major changes to policies occur occasionally and affect the way the organization operates. Satisfied team players usually cooperate for effective implementation of the changes and adapt to the transition faster. Actively listen and demonstrate equal opportunity through fairness.
Recognizing team members builds esteem among members. Although recognition may not necessarily motivate every member the same way, the achievement shows value toward individuals' role and successful accomplishment. The recognition may take the form of a paid day off, letter, card, award, or sincere words of acknowledgement. When giving verbal complements, the leader may use specific words that identify successful task completion.
Monetary incentive such as profit sharing provides motivation and benefits for the group effort to yield high performance.
The quality of work life emphasized by the leader encourages members to strive for excellence. Flexible schedule brings balance to the members' personal and professional lives, and allows satisfied members to stay mission focused.
Coaching and mentoring team members increase participation, cooperation, and loyalty to the group. Coaching keeps a vibrant atmosphere, especially for members with uncertainty. Unbiased feedback encourages members to listen and communicate concerns.
Steps to accentuate the Plan
Set goals regarding the organization profit. The goals should be specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time focused to bring achievements. Establish a timeline on expected outcome. Build team spirits through empowerment and ensure members receive necessary resources.
Provide continued training, development, and check ongoing progress. Allow cross-training to build knowledge of various functions.
Encourage team to take on leadership roles for experience and the possibility to advance within the organization.
Attitudes
Our attitudes positioned between the emotions and the thoughts normally take on a positive or negative expression. Experiences from the background, the internal, and external environment develop the attitude and the way we perceive ourselves, others, and life in general. Specific differences in members' attitudes vary according to optimistic, enthusiastic, or determination
Emotions
Members express various emotions to show the need for acceptance, respect, and the way they feel. The expressions vary according to each individual and strength of a particular need. For instance, one may show more independence, demonstrate the capacity to take initiative, and complete tasks without much direction whereas another may need more social interaction and assistance. Expressed emotions differ through pride, frustration, appreciation, hope, excitement, confidence, enthusiasm, trust, or desire. Each plays an important role in communication, interaction, and the path to establishing a successful project.
