As a whole group 1 feels that there could have been several things done differently when it comes to the way David Knauff handled the business as well as financial side of his company, different techniques should have fell in place. Being as though Mr. Knauff started his business at the tender age of fourteen and continued through his college years, he really did not understand what it actually took to run an organization and make substantial profit through out the course of the business. First and foremost Mr. Knauff suffered from attention deficit disorder which enables a person to stay focus and concentrate on more than one task at a time and in a lot of cases medication is needed to assist that individual. This disorder has and will probably continue to be a major set back for Mr. Knauff in the near future. It's clear that he needs to get outside sourcing to step in and assist him with certain aspects of the financial side of his business. He needs to hire an accountant as well as bookkeeper to help him maintain his finances and catch losses before they get out of hand, this will probably save him thousands probably millions of dollars on all future endeavors as well as help him with future biddings. Even if he can not afford to pay a professional accountant and bookkeeper he could probably pay an accountant student to assist. Next, incorporate ting people such as close personal friends, maybe those who may have a business degree to step in and help on the business aspects. Such as making sure the landscapers have detailed instructions as to what is being done for specific customers that way they are not handling extra work that will cost the Company money. Another thought the group had would be effective communication with the crew, allow the workers to have two way pagers or phones that way if indeed a customer is stating that they were promised extra work done to their lawns the drivers can just call in to the office and verify, this too will save money.
A great thought we had would be promotion, offering package deals such as lawn & bushes one price, fences, lawn & bushes another price and so on. Also advertising discounts for recommendations and more promotions. Being as though his current way of advertising is not proficient possibly placing advertising via radio may also be a good way to expose his business. As far as the bidding process goes we feel that he could possibly consult with other business executives to help him bid on bigger contracts that will generate more profit. With Knauff being the CEO, he should play not have to keep up with certain aspects of his company on a daily basis, he needs to hire the appropriate people to do so for him. All in all we believe that there were many lesions to be learned from this particular case, running an organization is not a one person job and
