1. Factors influencing labor demand
-One factor that is influencing labor demand is the need to reduce overtime being used by current staff.
-The second factor that is influencing labor demand is the need to have more police officers patrolling high crime areas to reduce the crime in high crime level areas
-The third factor that is influencing labor demand is the need to change the referral plan strategies that are in place. Recruitment goals are not being met with the strategies that are in place.
2. Factors influencing labor supply
-One factor that is influencing labor supply is the cost of college in
the area. College and universities in this area are some of the highest in the country. This is making it hard to recruit entry level candidates because most are opting to go to college elsewhere.
-The second factor that is influencing the labor supply is the area’s climate. With cold winters and hot summers most new recruits are opting to move and work someplace warmer.
-The third factor that is influencing the labor supply is the cost of living in the area. The compensation that recruits receive does not align with the higher cost of living and higher taxes in the areas
B.
1. Recruitment Objectives
-One recruitment objective for the organization is to offer a better competitive package that will attract more entry level hires.
-The second recruitment objective for the organization is to hire candidates that align with the culture of the department. Candidates that are capable of achieving the goals set forth for the organization.
- The third recruitment objective is to hire entry level candidates within the demographic area.
2. Recruitment Strategy

-The size of the applicant pool needed to produce 25 viable candidates is at least 82 because with the current ratio being 43:13, so with every 43 candidates, only 13 make it. The ratios can be broken down for each target group as follows:
Military Police- 5:3=3/5x100=60%
Correction Officer- 9:1=1/9x100=11%
Security Officer- 14:0=0/14x100=0%
Criminal Justice Graduate- 10:5=5/10x100=50%
Other Police Departments- 5:4=4/5x100=80%
Combined ratios of 43:13=13/43x100=30% job applicants that are job ready.
b. Types of individuals targeted for recruitment
-The two types of individuals that should be targeted for recruitment
are criminal justice graduates and individuals from other police
departments. They have a ratio of 9:13 hired and have shown to produce the most viable candidates.
