The founder and editor of the controversial WikiLeaks website, Julian Assange, has recently surrendered to London police due to "two counts of sexual molestation and one count rape." His arrest and charges were not related to his releasing of U.S. military documents on WikiLeaks.
The article, "British Judge Denies WikiLeaks Founder Assange Bail" addresses how Assange went to court based on his rape and sexual molestation allegations. The article says the judge's decision, to deny bail and put Assange in jail, yet it mainly focuses on the WikiLeaks website. The article gives details on the rapes and states claims from the two women he raped. It focuses on saying that the WikiLeaks will still release new documents and information and Assange's arrest will not change the site's flow. It talks about the history of the website, what the government is trying to do about it, and the financial pressure on the site.
The news video, "Assange Arrest Watch" took place on the Fox New's set and shows three people discussing Assange's doings. It discusses whether or not he should be charged for creating Wikileaks, and the court case. They discuss details that the judge said and charges placed on him. The news show has reporters interviewing other reporters to find out more news about the court case. They discuss further issues on Assange relating to America and the rape charges.
The main differences between the article and news video are that the video offers more of the reporter's opinions, the video tells viewers more details about what happened in court, and the article focused more on the Wikileaks website than Assange's court case and charges. The video offers more opinions on the case and goes into more, in-depth coverage on Assange. The article hardly gives any insight to how others reacted to Assange's doings and does not give many details or news on the court case and what happened to Assange.
