A Marketing Plan is a written document that is designed to advertise or market a product or service. Marketing plans are an integrative process of listening to customers and developing strategies and objectives that meet their needs, conform to the policies of the organization, and are realistic within the context of financial and operating parameters. Developing an effective Marketing plan is critical to the success of all healthcare practices. Marketing plans addresses the customer wants and needs and then, to the extent possible, designing appropriate programs and services to meet those wants and needs in a timely, cost-effective, and competitive fashion. It is the process of molding the organization to the customers rather than convincing customers that the organization (for example, a clinic) provides what they need (Hillestead & Berkowitz, 2004).
Main reasons why the healthcare practice needs a marketing plan
There are several reasons why health care practice needs a marketing plan. Most people would say that a marketing plan in healthcare must be created to satisfy benefits or financial gains but, there many more reason. The first reason it to increase your incomes as well as build a good reputation to your clients based on the services that you provide to them. This highly helps to attracts patients since they have confidence in your services. A second reason is to expand your patient base. This will increase the number of patients that visit your hospital every day to seek medication. Another reason is to push off competition from other competitors by proving that your services are the best through enhancing quality in your services. In doing so, marketing improves your practice image to your patients and the community at large. The other reason is to promote present and new services to the patients this helps to improve the quality of services offered. Healthcare practices cannot be afraid to introduce new technology-enabled marketing strategies (Rooney, 2009).
Effective market planning introduces new providers in the health care who will ensure that all types of health care problems are addressed and patients have access to modern medication. In addition, market planning will help the health care practice to enter a new market place by gaining the confidence of a large number of patients thus expanding the market share. It is also critical that staff and personnel are aware and ready to assist with the implementation of a marketing plan.

The necessary considerations described in the video are making the right investment that ensures your marketing plan to be effectively implemented. In marketing, too much of a risk can be damaging financially whereby, you may invest a lot of your money without any returns. More so, one may be at a risk of developing a bad reputation to the public if your marketing plan is not well designed and delivered to the expectation of the people.
