Abstract
An increasing number of people are earning their Master's of Business Administration Degree (MBA) as they advance in their business careers. With a decline in the economy and the number of available jobs on a daily decline, individuals are taking notice and making the necessary adjustments to enhance their resumes and to leverage themselves in today's job market. A Master's of Business Administration Degree offers the knowledge necessary to begin learning facets of business to prepare individuals who want to become entrepreneurs, advance in current career or to prepare them for a career change.
According to "Mba.com" (2012), "Around the world, more companies are hiring and the average number of new hires is expected to increase in 2011. In the United States, demand for recent MBA graduates is expected to be the strongest in the finance/accounting, healthcare/pharmaceutical, consulting, and high technology industries. In addition, salaries are expected to increase slightly from 2010 levels for MBAs hired in 2011. Responses to this year's survey come from 1,509 employers representing 901 companies located in the United States and 50 countries around the globe." (para. 3).
The aforementioned information demonstrates support for individuals to obtain their MBA Degree's because of an increase in salaries from 2010 to 2011 and also the number of companies seeking individuals with MBA degrees. The article also says that there is an increase in the opportunity to build effective networks of friends and colleagues as resources for finding and achieving success in business.
The Value of Obtaining an MBA
With many years of experience in the print, graphic design, and direct mail industry, has allowed the opportunity to witness a decrease in the amount of marketing, promotional, and advertising material ordered by businesses. Many companies are cutting budgets to decrease their overhead and slashing the number of employees they have on staff. The printing industry is quickly advancing to different forms of printing that small and large companies can save money by purchasing their own digital printing presses. These technological advances have raised question in the print industry about how long offset printing will be a necessity to customers. Being proactive with education enhancement is key for preparation for the future in case of a closing plant.
The print industry has allowed the opportunity to see small and large companies be successful, but more important the downside of many businesses that fail. The MBA program will increase the ability to demonstrate the knowledge and skills needed to identify and solve organizational problems, apply critical analysis of alternatives under conditions of uncertainty, develop my own awareness of values and the effects of those values on organizational decision making and also assess if an organization's plans and actions align with it's values.
An MBA thoroughly educates in all areas of business. The program classes to obtain an MBA at University of Phoenix consists of the following classes: Business Management, Human Capital Management, Business Law, Organizational Leadership, Quantitative Reasoning
