Well this will be something new for me but just wanted to jot down my life's experiences so that I could look back someday and learn something or even any upcoming event manager or entrepreneur could learn a few things and teach me a bit as well. Well this blog will contain loads of boring recaps, loads and loads of advice and basically my take on how one should grow as an event manager or entrepreneur.
Hmm a short recap...my life's story till date. Started my dance company zodiac at the age of 15 with my best friend omar.. performed stage shows all over the world... family and social pressure forced me to take a job at the age of 19 along with morning college at St. Xaviers ( this is india and a dancer in the year 1999 was looked upon as a failure and still is).
Well that did not deter my dancing passion which I continued after office hours... 2002 quit my job and pursued my dancing passion. 2004 realised money was not that good in dancing , joined an ad firm ,but somehow did not quit dancing, 2005 for the last time quit my job and went back to dance.
2006 end realised I needed more money to realise my creative passions , joined one of India`s largest dance companies and went on to establish the company in different cities, travelled to almost every single city in India recruiting artistes, learning new dance forms, experiencing the myriad cultures of India. One of the most gratifying periods of my life helping artistes realise that there was a future in dance.
2010 once again limited to just overseeing and managing a company the restless creative urge within me once again was being restricted and was becoming dormant being utilised only for creating innovative accounting and managerial processes.
I feel this is the true turning point of my life. My friends think it arrived a few years too late but knowing myself I needed to experience life from the very basics right to becoming the most integral part of a company as a final decision maker before actually venturing out myself.
Well the rest is history. Here I am running my own baby Zodiac Entertainment which is now handling corporate clients as well as weddings.
I have always told my peers and new entrants in the events field just by studying and reading books one can never become a true entrepreneur in the field of events.
For me the three steps have always been.
Learn the basics
Love the basics
Utilise the basics to transform your vision into reality
If I would be unable to find joy in even hammering a nail or even carrying equipment the end result can never be enjoyable for me.
The passion required in
