Part 1:
Existentialism to me is a way of thinking where you take responsibility for your actions no matter what they are. A modern existentialist doesn't believe in god, which means he or she doesn't believe in heaven or hell. Existentialists view the creation of humans as one with no meaning. Existentialists believe in the idea of free will but, what you do under your free will you will have to pay those consequences later and accept them.
Part 2:
This paradox of personal choices and accepting those choices affect the reader in such a way that they learn it is not people that create our madness, but more the way we feel toward them. Madness cannot root from other people's actions, but it can root from the effects of their actions. This is exactly the reason why believers in existentialism are indifferent to life, as they are never angry from other people's actions, but essentially mad at their effects. Take Estelle for example, Estelle is a woman driven mad because of Garcin and his failure to tribute any of his attention to her. Estelle is not mad from his actions, but more so at the effect of his actions on her. If she were apathetic to his lack of interest, all would be fine. And if Garcin were indifferent to Inez, and Inez to Estelle, there would be no hell, and existentialism would prevail because of the fact that none of the characters are torturing each other. "So you've no choice, you must convince me, and your at my mercey."(44) This example from the book conveys what I am trying to say in the fact that Garcin needs Inez's approval and he is at the mercey of her. But due to the fact that these three are not indifferent to each other there is a hell.
Part 3:
As I had explained in part 1, existentialism is a philosophy concerned with finding self and the meaning of life through free will, choice, and personal responsibility. The Truman show is about a man named Truman and his journey through a life that was publicized throughout the entire world without his knowledge. As the show plays out, Truman becomes aware of his increasingly suspicious surroundings. Later in the movie Truman conquers his enormous fear of water, makes it to the end of the world, as he knows it, and chooses to leave Seahaven. This says a lot about Truman, it shows that he was an existentialist without even knowing it. He had to dig deep within himself to find the true meaning of life and the free will to leave Seahaven. Truman proves that if you have the will there is a way.
Part 4:
Existentialism is an interesting way of thinking. You have to take responsibility for your actions, find meaning through free will, making personal choices, and accepting the consequences of those choices. I would say that I am somewhat of an existentialist for me the choices
