What I have learned about project management
Ive learned a lot of things in this class when it comes to project management. Before getting this class, I never gave much thought about how projects are set up, but after getting this class, ive learned that its not easy. There are a lot things that go through that one must understand if they want to achieve a successful project. For example, one must start by being an effective leader. You must know what your doing and you must take time in developing a plan for your project. You must find the right people that you can trust, but you must also be firm and calm, you cannot push them to hard or you could bring low morale to the project. it’s not easy setting up a project, that’s why project management is set up in 5 different phases (initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, and controlling and closing). Without these stages, your project would be disorganized and a complete failure. That’s why discipline is very essential to a successful project. Not only that, money is involved in these projects. You don’t want to put yourself at a financial risk because one mistake can cost you a lot of money that you may not be able to recover. And, learn to use time wisely, time is money as well. Learn to set up deadlines wisely.
I’ve also learned about Gantt charts and how to use them with precision. Gantt charts are useful in that you can use them to set up tasks and how and when you want them executed and achieved, and who to task the responsibility to. That way you can know when you want your tasks done at what certain time. You want to make sure you get reminded of when the time comes when that task that you want be done so as to say, ok I’ve completed this tasks, what’s next on the list. Gantt charts can be used for scheduling generic resources as well as project management. They can also be used for scheduling production processes and employee rostering. In the latter context, they may also be known as time bar schedules. Gantt charts can be used to track shifts or tasks and also vacations or other types of out-of-office time. Specialized employee scheduling software may output schedules as a Gantt chart, or they may be created through popular desktop publishing software.
Hopefully now that Ive learned a lot about this class, perhaps one day I can use the tools that ive learned to maybe one day open up my own business. I haven’t decided yet, but hopefully I can achieved that when the right time comes
