What criteria are most important when evaluating HR research tools? Explain why.
Companies should research training materials and procedures to help employees learn efficiently. The type of training needed will depend on the industry, number of employees, and necessity for continuous training in the future. For example, companies operating production lines on revolving shifts may require training sessions on each shift, or require the employees to take training modules when they reach a certain skill level. However, it depends on the companies' needs. If hiring is a necessity, managers need to select a test that best suits the needs to fill positions accordingly. If the firm needs a new HRIS system, human resources (HR) should obtain a system that meets the firm's needs in the most cost effective and efficient manner.
Training is an excellent tool to have readily available whenever necessary. According to Jessica Harlander, her employer usually does not train the shop employees for wiring and assembly, which is a downfall on the company's part. Management knows that the company builds all sorts of different items, and that every part is going to be impossible to build, especially if an employee who usually works on a particular model is out. Having well-rounded employees is going to be most helpful in the long run because if someone takes a long vacation someone else has the knowledge and skills necessary to fulfill those needs while that employee is gone.
Therefore, skill sets, professional development, and work ethic are also important. Skills sets are the techniques and skills employees use to perform a job, and determine if he or she is able to do the job. Second, HR wants employees striving to grow within the company to move up when positions are available. Last, good work ethics require employees to be honest, punctual, and able to work with other employees.
