What is inside the water bottles? Beside water? Pure, safe and clean water. That’s what the water bottle makers say. The consumers have the right to know what things are inside that cost more than tap water. The bottle makers hide all the things that they found in the bottles or don’t want to answer the question that the consumers ask. Does the water come from as it’s labelled? Is is safe? How? Do they contain harmful chemicals? Have they been tested regularly? They don’t want to share it publicly that water bottle actually contains contamination. Along with the health effect it causes, and the corporations make a huge profit out of it by cost us too much money for water bottles
The corporation refuse to inform consumer everything they deserve to know about the water bottles isn’t moral. In the documentary film Tapped, director Stephanie Soechtig exposes water contain BPA, which is contains chemical that cause neurological and behavioral problems in fetuses and children. BPA mimics the female hormone estrogen, which may have detrimental effects, including cancer of the brain, breast, and prostate, on the female reproductive system and the immune system in adults. Beside the BPA, according to the Environmental Worker Group, they also found in the water also contains thirty-eight toxics altogether, with the eight chemical out of thirty-eight that’s not safe for the consumers. The FDA has settled a stricter regulation for tap water than it does for water bottles. Instead of test the water bottles constantly, they just agree with whatever it’s shown on reports that the water bottles corporations provide. Tap water is tested more consistently. About 50% of water bottles have been tested that’s shown not much cleaner than the tap water, This is seriously severe for the consumers because if they consistently drink the water bottles that would cause long time effect to their health, that’s why we are as the consumers should observe more on what we put into our body. Water itself already has some bacteria, how about the plastic about? Does it have the great amount of viruses as the water?
Commercials about water bottles advertise a benefit of water bottles is they are very convenient for carrying water around when the customers are on the go, as they are undestroyable if we drop them. But they aren’t showed the process of how they are made? Scientist found not only water itself is unsafe, the plastic also has a problem..However, the consumers should spend their time to pay more attention how the plastic bottles are made to make sure they don’t contain suspicious chemicals in the plastic do not dissolve into the water. The consumers drink the water, then they will consume the chemicals from the plastic. The bottles is labelled in #1 PET or PETE bottles (polyethylene terephthalate), which may or may not leach DEHA, a known carcinogen, into the water and carried from crude oil.
