Value proposition for the A component/polyurethane hybrid CF reinforced product

Our final product formulation will be a hybrid resin, consisting of the A component (Daron 45) combined with the polyurethane resin. These resins will be combined with carbon fiber and cured, to form strong spar caps.

Cost hybrid:

100 parts Daron45 * 4,5 = 450 eur/100 kg

36 parts polyurethane * 3 = 108 eur/35 kg

450+105=558 eur/136 kg hybrid resin

558/136 = 4,10 eur/kg hybrid resin

Properties

Outstanding long-term heat resistance

Very good resistance to long-term mechanical loading

Processing speeds higher than competing resins

For the Composite Producers:

  1. Processing:

Resin suitable for pultrusion technique of composite manufacture

Processing speeds for our resin are much higher than those of vinyl esters and unsaturated polymer esters

Curing reaction rate is controllable, so higher production rates are attainable

      2. Economics:

Cost of the resin is lower than that of vinyl ester/epoxy resins (at 4,11 eur/kg)

For the Windmill Suppliers:

  1. Stronger blades => less breaking of material

        (Tensile strength

         Epoxy resin = 82 MPa

         Vinyl Ester = 70 MPa

  1. Longer, broader blades can be made => higher energy generation
  2. Lighter blades due to the resin being less dense than other resins

        (Density of our resin = 1217 kg/m3

 Density of Daron 45 = 1080 kg/m3

 Density of polyurethane = 1600 kg/m3

 Density of vinyl ester = 1900 kg/m3

 Density of epoxy = 2090 kg/m3)

4. faster production, so they can start earlier

For the Energy companies:

Q4: Technology positioning in the market

1. competitive edge (against competitors)

  • Combine the various unique properties (carbon fiber; polyurethanes; Daton45)  into one product.
  • High performance for rigid and flexible foams, sealants and coatings (the pros of polyurethane resin);
  • The rate of curing reaction can be well controlled, leading to the flexibility of adjusting processing conditions to fit for a specific application.
  • excellent chemical resistance, thermal resistance and good mechanical properties.
  • The addition of carbon fiber may lead to considerable weight reduction and new design opportunities for the following manufacturing companies.
  • Faster processing
  • Lower prices

2. price

3. marketing strategy

  • Partner with BASF (attain the consumers of , first enter Dutch/German market.
  • Do the promotion sequentially starting with the local points.
  • Broaden the market after accumulating more brand effect and user feedback (which means probable improvement or certain adjustment for different aim consumer) .
