VALUE CHAIN OF SEEDLESS LIME IN LONG AN PROVINCE

ABSTRACT
Large areas of seedless limes are grown in the Mekong Delta, where an abundant supply of fresh river water allows farmers to irrigate their farms and produce limes throughout the year. Therefore, the productivity of limes is huge when they are planted in Long An. However, lime chain in Long An is facing with both opportunities and challenges, which are high-quality standard from the global market, powerless logistics network, excessive costs of operation, etc.
A group of team members was assigned to collect historical data, take an observation at farms and manufacturers and discuss with people who involved in lime value chain. The relative measure of economic efficiency then was evaluated according to the costs of production.
In this report, the existing network of seedless lime in Long An was determined and evaluated. For that reason, the Euclidean distance function was applied to design an appropriated site for the supply chain network of the product. The collected historical data was analyzed in order to forecast the future demand as well as establish an aggregate planning. SWOT analysis of whole chain was also conducted to propose the strategic solutions for the lime value chain.
