Do you think stealing land from another country and then starting war with them is fair? I don't think so. Mexico declared itself free from Spain in 1821. Mexico was gigantic because it started from Oregon TERR. to the end by Guatemala. Mexicans knew that their upper land needed some company. So they decided that to welcome settlers from the U.S. to increase the population. But the Mexicans want to keep the Texans under their control. The American settlers ignored the Mexicans & their rules. And that's how the problems started because the Americans are really protestant. Then James Polk was elected president in 1844. He believed in Manifest Destiny that God wanted America to have its land expanded form "sea to shining to sea". But Polk also wanted California. He sent his troops and John Slidell to buy California which ticked off the Mexican government. Then one year later the Mexicans attacked Americans, and that's how the war started. So do you think it's acceptable for the U.S in going to war with Mexico? Three reasons why I think the U.S was not justified in going to war with Mexico are because Polk provoked Mexico, the expansion of slavery, and robbery.

The first reason why I think the U.S is not justified in going to war with Mexico is because Polk provoked Mexico. Polk ordered military to take position between Texas and Mexico. He thinks Mexico threatened to attack Texas. If Polk hadn't been greedy the Mexicans would have never invaded America and shed American blood onto American soil. But before, the Mexicans passed the Rio del Norte and killed and wounded 16 American soldiers. All these things are the outcomes of when Polk provoked Mexico.

The second reason why I think the U.S is not justified in going to war with Mexico is because the expansion of slavery. In 1847 there were 103,000 whites and 38,000 slaves in the state. That's not very democratic of the U.S. But Mexico made slavery illegal. That's why Mexico robbed America the freedom because the U.S is trying to expand slavery.

The third reason why I think the U.S is not justified in going to war with Mexico is because of robbery. Polk ordered the troops who arrived at the Rio Grande. It seem like an attack to the Mexican government. As a result of that, the Mexican government attacked the troops. This led to the battles of Palo Alto and Resaca de la Palma. "The American government acted like a bandit who came upon a traveler."Doc. C

Do you think it's acceptable for the U.S in going to war with Mexico? Three reasons why I think the U.S was not justified in going to war with Mexico are because Polk provoked Mexico, the expansion of slavery, and robbery. In my opinion If Polk just left Mexico alone they would have never had a war with Mexico. Also they wouldn't be that much slaves. Also the U.S would never rob Mexico.
