Firstly, the reading passage contends that since book reading tend to decrease generally, there is also a sharp decline for literature. However, the lecturer claims that not all books are equal to literature. For instance, books which contain scientific or political contents can also has high quality and be as creative as novels.
Secondly, according to the reading passage, people are more likely to watch television or read Web pages instead of reading books, which will result in a culture lost. In contrast, the lecturer addressed that less books does not mean fewer culture. Music and movies are just different forms of cultural expression. What's more, those modern media tend to be more contemporary concerned than literature.
Last, in the reading passage, the author explains that people will be definitely regretted to read less during a period like nowadays when good literature is being producing. On the other hand, the lecturer argues that this should be writers fault. Readers are not those who need to be blamed for because of the producing of more hardly understandable literature.
