First of all, I chose the article or poem, "The White House" by Claude McKay. I see that the "Otherness" that is being portrayed in this text, by McKay feeling like they are being treated differently, just by simply being part of the low-income generation. I feel like this person is simply feeling, like the White House, is treating him different, maybe because he is living on the street. He is feeling like he should not be treated like this, he is searching within everything in his power to overcome this fact.

I feel like the author's perspective on otherness is, he feels like it should not be shown. I get that he feels like he should be treated equally, just as everyone in the White House is being treated. I think this because, of how it is stated in the poem, "Where boldly shines your shuttered door of glass." (McKay, C.) This is how interpreted, the perspective of the author on otherness. He sure is angry when he gets to thinking about how he is being treated differently.

I feel like the "other" in this text, is the person writing about this subject. The reason being, is he feels like he is being treated differently than everyone else, who is with the "White House" he feels like if he was "on the same page" with everyone else, he would not be treated this way. I have to say, I understand where he is coming from. I myself have been in this position before. I would not wish it to come upon anyone else.
