The Understanding of Homosexuality Group

The character I choose is Ennis Del Mar from the movie Brokeback Mountain[ Ang Lee. "Brokeback Mountain" (2005)]. He is a salted cowboy with a homogeneous perspective from deep inside. Because of a sheeping job opportunity he has a chance to meet Jack Twist, a male young cowboy as well, and fall in love with him. The movie describes his struggling with stereotype, braveness as a bigot, and single-mind with true love. I personally do not accept homosexual relationship and marriage, but I will challenge myself to take a stand on his perspective. In order to understand his bigot, I believe it has three steps: read the person's life experience, observe his behavior and what are others views, and then understand what he truly wants.

Del Mar's belief is starting to form when he is a child. His father shows him and his brother how homosexual relationship is banned and punished when it is found. The cruel and the blood mark in young Mar's mind. No homosexual relationship, they are evils. Del Mar starts to hide his mind and show "normal" side to the world. It is so pathetic to see how a child is "brainwashed" by shocks and blood. They don't have a chance to make a decision while the thoughts are already given.

Differ from that period of the United States, homosexuality is being discussing on classroom these years, but the data still shows great collision from parents. "When asked about the issue in greater detail, more than 50 percent of high school and middle school parents supported teaching what homosexuality is about "without discussing whether it is wrong or acceptable." Only 8 percent of high school parents and 4 percent of middle school parents said schools should teach "that homosexuality is acceptable."[ Diana Jean Schemo.
