"The Voice Within"
By: Christina Aguilera
Reminds me of:
My Mom
I chose "The Voice Within" because it describes exactly what my mom has taught me my entire life. My mom has been a strong believer in making it through whatever life decides to throw your way. She has always told me to trust myself, and go with my instinct. Also my mom has taught me to be strong no matter what happens, and that is what this song is all about. Christina says over and over again, 'Like your oldest friend, just trust the voice within'. I have grown up with having to believe and depend on myself; therefore this song has a deeper meaning to me than just words.
My mom, obviously, is my world. If it wasn't for her in several situations, not just birth, I would not be here. She has had to depend on me at certain points. At the same time I have had to depend on her for most of my life. She has been there for me through most of my hardest moments. She was there for my first real heartbreak, becoming a woman, and almost losing my father in a motorcycle accident. We have been through so much together that she is more like my best friend than my mom.
"Friends Forever (Graduation)"
By: Vitamin C
Reminds me of:
The Rocks
The song "Friends Forever" is really touching to me. I have moved more than enough times and lost entirely too many good friends. There are a few however, that I have remained in contact with. This song is definitely for them. Those few that I still talk to today have become my best friends and are closer to my heart than anyone else besides family. 'And if you got something that you need to say,
you better say it right now 'cause you don't have another day' says the scariest part about it all. Time goes by so fast, and so many words go unsaid because people move on and go separate ways. On the other hand people stay friends for life.
The Rocks is a place that has a different meaning to me than it does almost anyone else. Most people go there to go fishing or light a campfire. I go there to share thoughts about life with my best friend. Also I spend time off there to blow off steam, or even cry because I'm upset over something. The Rocks is my break from reality. It is my place with no judgment, total freedom, and nothing goes wrong. The Rocks is my escape.
