"The Role of a Teen in Society"

What is the role of a teen in society? Let's start off by determining the actually meaning of the term "teen". In this case the term "teen" is short for teenager. The term teenager actually means a human either male or female that is at the age of thirteen to nineteen. In America today society has a law that states when one is at the age of eighteen, one is considered as a young adult. Now to answer the question, what is the role of a teen in society?

In today's society when one hears the word teenager, one automatically thinks of the term rebellious. When researching the term teenager one will find many websites that deal with parenting adolescence. Many people make guides on how to grow a plant, cook food, and other miscellaneous activities, not to mention raising a teenager. Adults automatically prepare oneself for the worst when ones child becomes a teen. Yes, teenagers of all age and race have given plenty of reasons to need a guide and maybe for some a guide is needed, but the low expectations that are given to a teen are not needed.

Low expectations are huge for teenagers. This is why a major role in teenage society is to raise the low expectations to high ones. The responsibility level is at its all time low and the worst part of it is many teens are not raising the responsibility that is given. Teenagers cannot blame it all on the adults but also have to take in an intuitive that the label that was given under the term teenager was given for a reason. Teenagers want that form a freedom and many do receive freedom. A good example of freedom is the earning a license which the majority of teens receive in the mid range teenage time span. Once a teen receive freedom responsibility comes right along with it and that is when teens struggle the most, and causes the main problem for the teenagers. So one of the main roles a teenager has in today's society is raising the expectations that have been given.

Another role that society in today time is lacking in a major way is education. How great the world would be if all teenagers actually graduated high school. To some teens that role seems to be rather easy but many do not realize that the high school graduate rate is seventy percent. That rate could be way better if graduating was one of the roles many teenagers in society would take on. It's a common thing for an average family with a teenager to graduate but the way society is headed today the amounts of graduates today have decreased. To state all that one would say this. Graduating high school is an important role for a teenager in society today.

One of the most important roles that cover all the other ones that have been listed is forming the next generation. Teenagers are the next generation and the state that a teen is in is one of the most important stages of one's life. The time
