Our founding fathers structured the role of the president in a way where he would be able to lead the country but at the same time not have too much power. People wanted someone who could not only keep the United States as a union, but keep it financially stable and maintain complete order. When selecting a president we give him our trust and full support. Some qualities that people look inside a president are being able to have a connection with the people. He needs to be strict, confident, intelligent, tough, and most of all he needs to be true to his people. Beside his qualities, the roles of the president are also as important.
One of the president's roles is to keep peace as well as keep the United States together. The founding fathers gave the president the right to negotiate treaties in order to keep peace with other countries even though it still has to be approved by the senate. The president also has to keep the Congress informed and organized in order to provide a better understanding of what is best for our country. Under Article II of the constitution also states that the president should take care of the laws and faithfully execute them. Some of these roles that presidents are expected to take upon but are not always fully executed or followed. There are more roles but the most important role is being commander in chief. As the president of the United States one of his roles is to be a great commander in chief. Being commander in chief of army and navy does not necessarily mean he can declare war. After debating, the founding fathers decided to give congress the power to declare war. Even though congress gets to declare war some presidents would use the commander in chief power in order to actually go into war. Being commander in chief is very important because this is where the skills and confidence in the president comes out. His intelligence, strategic, and technical movements and thoughts have to be fast, strong, and firm. They need to be ready for anything in order to defend their people and their country.
Being president puts enormous amount of pressure and you can see how they each begin to deteriorate when in command. Not only do they have to protect our country but they have to keep the citizens satisfied as well as provide a good stable economy. Many of the president's roles are not a walk in the park and some roles are where the president's true capability of running the country is tested. Although some struggle to stay in office others successfully achieve keeping the United States safe and pleasant.
