The Ride of Paul Revere

Paul Revere said: “The British are coming! One if by land, Two if by sea!”
If you did not understand that quote, this is the code phrase that Paul Revere had used when he made his famous midnight ride. In this speech, I'm going to familiarize you with the life of paul revere and and his contribution to the american revolution. Paul Revere is important because he rode through the night to warned all the families on the countryside of Lexington that the british were invading. Today, I will be discussing Paul Revere's early life, his career and his famous midnight ride.
(Transition: First, I will discuss his early life.)
Paul Revere was born in December of 1734 in Boston. (The exact date is unknown.)His birthday is sometime mistaken as January 1st, 1735. January 1st is the day that he was baptised into the catholic church. His father’s name was Apollos Rivoire and his mother’s name was Deborah Hichborn. His father was a silversmith who had immigrated to America as a refugee from France. Apollos learned his trade as a gold and silversmith. Revere was born into a family with 11 children. 6 boys and 5 girls. Only 7 of them lived to be adults. He was the 2nd oldest boy but, then became the oldest boy to live after his brother had passed away.According to World Book 2005, he studied at North Grammar School in Boston between the ages of 7-13. He studied the silversmith’s trade because his father had planned on him taking over the family business.

After dropped out of school, he went with his father everyday to work at his shop. At first, Paul would perform small tasks while he watched his dad work. He had learned a lot of the course of a couple years. Once he gained enough experience, he then started make belt buckles and other little silver accessories. When he was only 18 years old, he left his family to go fight in the french and indian war. Massachusetts was required to groups of men to fight on the british side. Paul Revere was one of the many men from Boston who volunteered to fight the battle. He served as 2nd Lieutenant for the Colonial Army. Paul Revere became an active political leader as member of various Whig groups, such as the Sons of Liberty. Also, Revere was a member of the Masonic Lodge of St. Andrews. He became friends with Joseph Warren, John Hancock and Samuel Adams.
