After researching the four approaches in developing a presentation which is a speech, a workshop, a discussion, and a group activity I found that is some ways they have similarities.
When preparing to make a speech you will need to start with a piece of paper and some ideas. There is no right way to start you speech but there are several things that could be done to make it a bad speech. In order to have a good speech you should know your audience or get familiar with your audience and if you have any props to prepare for you speech. Keep the props simple and don't over rely on props. Make sure to prepare yourself for any mishaps that might occur. Make sure to practice and pace yourself to stay within the time allowed and stay on the correct subject. That way your speech should go smoothly with fewer nerves. Make sure to give your audience a chance to ask questions either during or after the speech (speechtips.com).
In order to prepare for a workshop you'll need to find a location for your presentation, a topic, and speakers that will help you present to the audience. Advertise your workshop to draw in the audience and then set up the tables with displays for the workshop. The time it takes to prepare for a workshop depends on the amount of time you're allowed. Here are a few steps to do when getting ready for a workshop one being contact the speakers, have a planning session with your speakers, prepare for your presentation, and then finally finalize your materials (ryanwhite2010.com). Workshops are similar to group activities because of having to be prepared and having materials placed on tables for the group activity.
Getting ready for a discussion you will have to gather the right prompts or questions. Make sure the questions that are generated don't lead to the group just reading the questions in their circle (litcircles.org).
An informative speech will give you information that will describe how to do something, and it doesn't give your opinion as the main point, it doesn't give an opinion on things that you are talking about in your speech. A persuasive speech is a speech that will persuade the audience to change their beliefs or actions, shows the audience your opinion not like the informative speech that doesn't show your opinion. In order to be more persuasive you will need your speech to have the elements of the Rhetorical Triangle.
The Rhetorical Triangle is made up with three attributes speaker, audience, and the situation. These attributes are affected by using an informative and persuasive presentation by not following the correct steps or not have an argument that is based on emotion. Make sure you make sense otherwise you won't
