The Producers
The Producers is the second play we were required to watch for this class. Actually I was looking forward to watch this play because the first play we watched for this class surprised me a lot. After I watched it, I feel The Producers was amazing and gave me more ways to feel the movements than the first one as I expected.
The most impressive roles for me in this play are the gays and the little old ladies. I like the gay with blue maxi dress because of his movements and expression. When he appeared on the stage, I feel like this woman is so pretty and elegant with white heel, blue maxi dress. When he started to talk, I was shocked. The performer is a man. I did not figure this out before he talked. The actor walked on the heel steady and freely. He can handle the heel much better than me. He smiled bashful and walked elegant. Sometimes when he walked in circle, his dress fluttered and I can see his legs. His two legs were overlapped sometimes and no matter he was walking or standing, he was so girl. If that was not on the stage, I will consider the man as a "perfect gay" in his daily life.
Also, I like the old ladies in The Producers. The girls wore fake white and gray hair. They were really like 80 years old women with hunchbacks and little shacking hands. The actresses are just young women maybe around 25 but I can really feel they are the old ladies from their eyes, movement and expression. I like one of them walking with crutch and shaking hands. She could not walk stable. Every time she came on the stage I talked to myself: "Don't fall down! Don't fall down! Be careful!!"
I know it is hard to play the roles that are opposite to our customary roles. However, the performers in The Producer really surprised me. They make me want to try to walk or move like an old lady, lesbian or something opposite to my customary role. That will be a challenge and fun.
