Both the Max Travers and the Newton-Francis articles are very informative. The Max Travers and the Newton-Francis articles discuss criminal justice research and how it applies to that field. Each article is intended for different audiences. Each article offers different techniques and methods on how to use criminal justice research in the field. The Newton-Francis article on Research and Practice: Diverse Voices from the Field shows how the criminal justice research methods are used by people who are already in that particular field. The Newton-Francis article does this by using a three step method. Also, the Newton-Francis article discusses how a major in criminal justice can be utilized as a career path. By doing this, it allows students to understand what insight and range the career of criminal justice has to offer, in which normally students would not become exposed to. The Max Travers article comes to students in a different approach. One important aspect discussed in the Max Travers article is how the criminal justice field is discussed. Unlike the Newton-Francis article, the Max Travers article discusses the pros and cons of the criminal justice field. The Newton-Francis and Max Travers articles are well written articles directed towards criminal justice students.
The Newton-Francis article is substantially short compared to the Max Travers article. Reading this article a person will find it is directly to the point, and explains different components directly related to criminal justice. This article is directed more so towards college level students and how the criminal justice field relates to them. Newton-Francis breaks down her article by using three different parts. The first part is "Ways to Inquire: Research Methods", explains the frameworks and methodological approaches which can be used to enhance the richness of criminal justice (Newton-Francis, 2009). The second part "Inquirers: Professionals, Activists, and Researchers" shows the working experiences in white-males which is dominate in the criminal justice professions. The criminal justice field does attempt to show diversity in different ways each day (Newton-Francis, 2009). Part three of the Newton-Francis article "Sites of Inquiry" shows readers different cases that discuss gender within the criminal justice profession. This section allows people to understand the different roles males and females play to make up criminal justice. Within this part of the article different criminal justice professionals both male and female discuss their experience. Overall, this article depicts different insights within the criminal justice field and gives students real life exposure to the career field.
The Max Travers article is a long substantial passage which takes a very long in depth look into research methods and discusses two different comparative fields. These two fields are philosophical and criminology and Travers describes to readers
