The Humanities Case

The following paper will define humanities and give explanation of how humanities are different from other forms of the human inquiry and expression. The paper will also provide a description of a current cultural event such as music, dance, theater, art, or literature. This paper will also express how the selected cultural expression compares with other forms in the same period.
Humanities are referred to the collection of discipline that seek the study of the human condition analytically and also in speculative means. Humanities have enabled individuals from different culture backgrounds to recognize, understand, and communicate past commonalities and the present differences. Humanities are also the general study of comprehending and interpreting of life and its history. However, according (2010), humanities is "Those branches of knowledge, such as philosophy, literature, and art, that are concerned with human thought and culture; the liberal arts."
A simple definition of literature is the art of a person's written work. This also falls under the heading of the arts dependent on its purpose and content of the written work. It is literarily work of emotion that tells a story from a varied social perspective. An example, are the books written by different authors and also by President Barack Obama as a memoir that reflects his life from childhood to the present. The words in this literature give readers a closer glimpse of his life conveyed in a lifetime of experience. Today many individuals see the world through his eyes of his biracial upbringing, the absence of his father, the social classes as he has experienced them, his marriage, and how he developed his opinions and how he became a politician. Finally, the story behind the Barack Obama's bid to be the leader of the United States.
Literature is any written material, be of someone's life or as simple as an expression of poetry, it may be a fiction or non-fiction, whatever genre appeals to us and our imaginations. For instance, books in history are another good example because it tells us the story of the past. There are different readers and some may ready fantasy books because it gives an escape whereas its elements appeal to the human emotion of love, adventure, evil, misery, beauty, friendship, heroism, and the elements of the divine. Today the adaption into film of this work gave a certain depth to the work by giving it a visual interpretation.
In conclusion many of us may have different perspective of the humanities. However, today when one thinks of the humanities he or she will think of the areas that are concerning to them most. Such as the advancements in other disciplines such as the sciences, mathematics, and the psychological of which are part of the human culture.
