The Drive
Imagine giving most of your childhood to playing a sport and working extremely hard at it to be the best but then having someone tell you "I don't want you on my team!" Moe Charles was born into a family of great tennis players. He knew he was expected to be great one day. Moe had great work ethic, a myriad of heart, and a ton of talent. As an eighth grader going to be a freshman his goal was to make the tennis team. Moe ad the drive to be on the team, he knew he could be the best player but thats exactly what hurt him.
Moe Charles gave blood, sweat, and tears to be a phenomenal tennis player. He knew he was the best when he arrived to the tryouts. He was unstoppable at the tryouts front hands, back hands, and his serves were making all the other players look silly out there. What caused his downfall was his attitude. Day in and day out he showed he was great, but the coaches and even some of the players did not like him because of his personality and his respect for others. When Moe would make a mistake the coaches would try to help him but Moe would roll his eyes or walk away from the coaches when they are talking to him. At first the coaches tried to put up with it but after a while they started to get very upset.
After many weeks of intense practicing the final day of tryouts were here this is when everyone finds out if they made the team. Moe Charles was positive he made the team. The day was finally here, he had been waiting for this moment his whole life. Walking towards the list he could feel his heart racing faster and faster. Moe's eyes quickly looked up and down the paper searching for his name, it was no where to be found. He could not believe it "there must be a mistake" he says under his breathe. Moe rushes towards the coaches for answers, they simply say "theres no i in team, you need to change your attitude before you play for this team". The rest of the day Moe spent crying in misery at his home.
As weeks even months passed by Moe figured out the coaches were right he needed to change. He still wanted to play for a high school team, but they were not about to give him a second chance. Moe's only choice was to switch schools or do not play the sport he loves. Switching schools was life changing for Moe he would have to leave his best friend and he new no one at his new school. It was extremely hard for Moe, there were time when he would just cry him self to sleep because he hated his new school so much. For the next four years Moe Charles dominated almost every game of tennis and went on to receive a scholarship from the University of Southern California. In the long run it worked out for Moe but he had to sacrifice all the good time he would have had with his best friends because of his attitude.
