The Checkered Table
The scene opens to a slightly spine chilling view of a deserted park. The park is openly decided upon the town as possibly the worst place to visit. The park is falling apart and trashed, but all centered around one simple thing, one checkered table.
Narrator: Weary is the soul whom passes through a park such as this. The feeling oh so gruesome and nauseas of an empty scene. A lonely feeling passes through the innocent people whom pass by, an empty feeling that can never be sufficed by the slightest joys of life. Why might such a place of a dreary stigma you may ask? Well something as perplex as this anecdote may be too hard to resolve by just words.
Main Character enters stage right
Jeremiah Webb: [A scruffy man in his late 30's aged much more by the terrible and painful life he has faced] (Slowly arrives on the scene looking around the deserted park, almost looking lost but slightly curious) Oh how to be in such a dark and dreary place once again. Just the thought of this place still brings me chills of my past. So many wonderful memories, so many laughs, all to be ruined by one simple thing, one checkered table. Oh I cannot reminisce much longer for just the thought brings tears to my cheek. I would give anything to go back to the times with Julie. Oh how we were in love, oh how we were so young.
Scene fades to black.
The scene opens to a spotlight hitting a young women looking to be in her late teens. The park seems indefinitely different now. There seems to be life, laughter, and love.
Narrator: Oh how the time flies. Here stands the love of Jeremiahs life, but not how she is in the present time, but simply a glimpse of her past, before the one-checkered table.
Julie Winter: [A beautiful red headed young women in her early twenties full of life and laughter] (She walks around the park admiring her surroundings more and more as she gazes upon the beautiful sights) Oh what a beautiful place to spend such a wonderful afternoon. I could not ask for more perfect weather for the most perfect evening. It won't be long until (dramatic pause) Jeremiah (gasps from being love struck) arrives to sweep me away into a love poem of life. (She begins to wander around the park and eventually stopping and sitting at the checkered table)
Jeremiah enters stage left.
Narrator: The years have not been kind to young Jeremiah, for just in a decade all of his joy seems to have faded, but in this short glimpse of the past you can see he was not always so worn by the years.
Jeremiah: [Now a handsome young man full of spirit and happiness] (He runs to the scene searching for Julie calling her name ever so often until he spots her at the checkered table) Julie!
Julie: Jeremiah!
Jeremiah: It has been too long, my love.
Julie: It has, but I'm just glad we are here now.
Jeremiah: What are you doing out here all by your lonesome?
Julie: Just enjoying this beautiful park.
(As the excitement from the initial meeting wears off they begin to notice the checkered table just behind them)
Julie: Do you see this strange table right here?
Jeremiah: Yes I see it, but it just seems like a normal table to me.
Julie: No, its different it like it's calling my name. Drawing me to its attention.
Jeremiah: Like I said it seems pretty normal to me.
Julie: Whatever, lets just sit down.
(The scene fades out to the simple small talk of two lovers)
Narrator: What a happy young couple the two seem to be, but the years
