Cars way back then either ran by a crank or gasoline.
Knowing that gasoline was so expensive back then, they had used a crank in front of the car to turn, and turn to start. Another thing was they didn't have a key to start the car, like we do today. So later on in the 1900's an electric car was made. At one point of time there were 50,000 EV's on the roads and streets of the United States. The first electric car that was ever made was the Raunch and Lang Electric Sedan, made in 1922.
California was a very popular place where electric cars,
ran. They had at least 23 million cars registered at the time. But the bad news about this was, it was causing pollution in the air. In 1990 a law was passed in California,"Califonia Air Resources Board",(ARB). This was to help reduce the air polutant that was sorrunding the population.
Today one of the most first electric vehicle was the General
Motors Impact. This car could travel up to 180 m.p.h. This car was very popular. If you are wondering how far an EV can go today, well they usually go up to about 100 miles, then you would need to recharge the battery. But usually 50-100 miles is the best for people, because thats usually how far it is to get to work and back.
