Without a doubt there has to be a balance to the usage of books and using technology in all schools. A large amount of studies were carried out demonstrating the negative effect on technology usage in schools. Statistics say that technology has a negative effect on the human mind, causing it to lose good brain cells that retain educational information. Due to this, there has been set a limited access to technology in schools. Access to books in schools without a doubt is enormous. Every school is required to have a library therefore; students have approximately eight hours of available information in books while they're in school. Equilibrium between technology and books has been kicking in since resent studies show that nothing can be overdone or else it will have a negative effect.
To further explain, for example: An individual whose life is all about alcohol without a doubt that person is an alcoholic. Logically speaking, working becomes a need but also an addiction that doesn't necessarily take a positive effect on the human body. Same goes for technology in education, cannot have too much, or too less, just right. In the contrary books is on of those things that does not take a negative effect on the human mind (affecting learning cells). Also restrictions have been added to computer labs, denying the student to access any administration data such as: passwords, porn cite, game cites, social cites such as; 'facebook', 'myspace', and 'twitter'. This perfectly leaves students with no other option than to concentrate and complete the task fully, and in a faster pace limiting technology usage. Additionally teachers have been assigned by the district a requirement for students to read a book followed by a mandatory critical analysis essay. In other words, students are required to fully read, understand, and comprehend a book from beginning to end. This means more time reading straight from the book. It is said that a critical analysis essay takes about two months to complete. With this it could be inferred that that student will be spending two months analyzing that particular book. Not only using the book but also internet resources needed to fully carry out the analysis essay.
To conclude is not a debate that students should not be allowed any technology access, nor that students shouldn't be allow to view books. Is about giving the student enough use of both technology and books. So the students may get a chance to prepare oneself properly for the assignment given. Without technology there are no internet resources that provide the student with the knowledge needed to fully complete the task given. Also not possible with only books. An equilibrium and a combination of technology and book usage in schools should be enforced, so the student may be prepared properly and may achieve academic excellence.
