With today's electronic technology, as the Marketing manager responsible for developing a market strategy, I would first send an e-mail, as a downward communication (Stephen P. Robbins and Timothy A. Judge, Copyright 2011) channel. The e-mail would notify the team of an emergency meeting to be held in the conference room. During the meeting, I would use lateral communications (Stephen P. Robbins and Timothy A. Judge, Copyright 2011) to fully discuss the issue; to include the products current track record in the United States, the desired end state of the product in the global market and the short suspense date of a week. The requirement for the marketing team would be to produce a strategy and prepare to brief the team in four days. This would afford the opportunity to make any minor revisions prior to meeting with the Vice President of Operations.
This initial downward communications was determined because its the quickest way to initiate the meeting but during the meeting, lateral communications would be the best communication channel due to the circumstances of the requirement.
While the marketing team was developing the global marketing strategy, I would schedule a meeting with the Vice President of Operations. This meeting, conducted on the fifth day, where I along with the marketing team would brief the Vice President on the products planned global strategy. This face-to-face communications channel (Stephen P. Robbins and Timothy A. Judge, Copyright 2011) would be the best and would allow rapid feedback and the possible approved global strategy.
