I. Introduction
Environmental Construction Site and Management
This course project paper discussed Sustainability and Environmental management in the construction industry. There are varieties of Construction operation on the ground; while executing the operation there are a potential consequences that able to destroy or degradation the environment. The magnitude of environmental effect can be minimized through varies sustainable frameworks and techniques using environmental management.
This course project discusses the application of sustainable construction management to keep safe environment by minimize the subsequent effects caused by the industry.
Construction Site is a part of land where a structure intended to be located or built. A structure divided into sub and super; the sub includes a construction site such as bridge, dam, airport, road, railway...etc., and the superstructure consisting of a building being built.
Site management is the overall planning, coordination, and control of a project from inception to completion aimed at meeting a client's and design requirements in order to produce a functionally and financially viable project.
Environmental Construction Management is the process by which environmental project and safety is regulated. It does not encompass managing the environment itself, but it is the process of taking steps and behaviors to have a positive effect on the environment in the construction industry. Environmental Site Management comprises any construction activity and resources to have an impact on the construction site; it includes the waste management and recycle, resource conservation and energy efficient.
Goals
Many construction companies advanced a sustainable management plan and system to apply, manage and keep environmental goals in the construction industry. The main goal of site construction is to build a structure without compromising the environment and conserving the natural resources using sustainable construction methodology.
Objectives
Management Objectives: are specific, realistic and times, but not must be prescriptive. The construction companies, the project manager or the construction managers may needs to take whatever steps are necessary to implement the construction processes in the design stage, monitoring the management plan and procedures, and evaluating the construction effects on the environment and adjusting the construction procedures if necessary. After the completion of the project review the plan or procedures from the activities report.
Environmental Objectives: Although new technologies are constantly being developed to complement current practices in creating greener structures, the common objective is that green buildings are designed to reduce the overall impact of the built environment on human health and the natural environment by:
* Efficiently using energy, water, and other resources
* Protecting occupant health and improving employee productivity, and
* Reducing waste, pollution and environmental degradation
Comprehensive strategic plan
* A project manager or construction manager is imperative to lead the project with a unique Project management leadership skill to meet the challenge by environmental impact, construction delay caused by change order and budget.
* In order to enhance the general contractor or the project manager decision making process within the project, there must be a "Reference points" like Sustainable Development (SD), Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC) among the project policy makers, owner representative (usually known as construction managers), the project's
