We are often given so many opportunities in todays society to succeed and achieve anything we want as long as we work for it. In the reading of In War, In Prison, In Antiquity by James Bond Stockdale, there is a lot of meaningful thoughts he comes up with and learns to look at things in different ways in the days of isolation and fear. He lived under the fear of death and not knowing when his death would come after being tortured in numerous occasions. Stockdale tells us that one should learn how to cope with many different situations we are faced with not only when things are good but when things are tough as well. In many ways this imprisonment of Stockdale made him more enlightened and was able to spiritually connect himself with his inner-self and realizes that theough all those days of loneliness made his mind open for a conversation with himself and asks himself what are men's real goals in life? " If you want to break a man's spirit, and if your victim's will is strong, you've go to get physical." If you don't have the will power to maintain yourself and always keep a positive thought then you will easily be shut down of your dreams every time . It is important to open up your mind and get you thinking not only by learning from books but also by everyday living wether it is simply learning how to ride a bike or even being able to learn the constellations for example. anything you do someone has taught at some point in their life and was passed down to you.
