The entrepreneurial orientation that I have consists of a medium risk tolerance, extensive work experience, and a fairly introverted personality. This assessment of myself is based on how well I know myself and input that I have received from others. There are certainly some changes that I would need to make before considering starting my own business. The first would be the financial risk tolerance. At this moment in my life I am not in a position financially to take as large of a risk. However, I am working towards building a more solid financial future for myself that I can consider starting my own business in the next 5 to 7 years. With regard to my work experience, it is quite extensive. With that said I have never owned my own business so do not have experience in that. The third part of the orientation is what I believe needs the most improvement. I need to work on improving my self confidence which would result in an ability to sell myself. I do not have the same level of confidence in myself that others have in me. Others around me believe me to be a strong, confident person. However, on the inside, I do not feel this way. This is something that I am working on. I am doing my best to put myself in situations that I find uncomfortable as a way to improve.
I am looking to start my own business as an accountant. I was inspired to this profession by my high school accounting teacher. That was 30 years ago. His words and inspiration have been with me all of these years. Although, I am not currently working in the accounting field I do hope to get back into that field. I find that working with numbers absolutely fulfilling. It is going to take hard work to reach of the goal of business owner, but I know that I am up to the task.
