When looking for a significant other, some people tend to be choosey. It is best to choose someone to spend life with rather than have someone and divorce or break up. There are many reasons why a person chooses their lifetime partner. Most people that are looking for lifetime partners are looking for maturity, commitment, faithfulness, stability, etc. Some people may think that it is hard to find the one that completes them.

When looking for a spouse or companion, a person must first find someone that is mature and stable. When couples get married, they usually say the following words: "I _________, take you, _________, to be my wife (or husband), to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part, according to God's holy law, and this is my solemn vow," (Traditional Wedding Vows) but they don't understand the full meaning. In order to be with someone, the person must first take care of himself or herself before they say these vows and take care of someone else. If someone is not financially stable and mentally mature, then a relationship may not be for him or her.

Commitment and faithfulness is another big parting a relationship. If one cannot trust the one that they love, then they can not trust anyone else. Commitment is the key to all relationships. If an individual is committed and faithful to another, then, they should do anything to hurt the one they love on purpose. A relationship should be like Bonnie and Clyde. They should stick together no matter what. In a relationship, commitment means you must have friendship and partnership. Without those, you cannot be faithful neither committed.

Looking for a companion and a lifetime partner are two different things. There are different requirements to reach when you are looking for a husband/wife rather than a boyfriend/girlfriend. All in all, a relationship must have stability, maturity, faithfulness, and commitment.
