I understand that most of you in here have a cell phone or an iPod or some other technological things that you use every day. I myself do this too and I know how easy it is to become attached to our electronic devices. It is perfectly clear that present day society has become overly dependent on technology. Nowadays, our lives are completely directed and influenced by technology which has changed people's lifestyles across the globe.
Today, every human activity is depend upon various tools or machines like a plant depends on the sunlight to survive. Although, technology does helps us with growing food, to providing shelter, to communication, healthcare, and entertainment. Some machines, like the tractor, speed up and make more efficient activities that humans have done for hundreds of thousands of years. Others such as the Internet make possible things that humans have never been able to do before. We can say that living without technology is like living without air in this technical world of today. Therefore, we are much dependent on technology. Technology, no doubt, has made things a lot easier but, at the same time we need to keep it at a safe distance from us. It wouldn't be right to suggest that we throw away our vacuum cleaners but it is essential to remember where we started. The consequence is rather simple, if we don't stop now the conflict will only increase and cause a much bigger issue. I am not asking to stop using all technological products but to limit the use of computers, television, or even video games that our generation is so hooked on.
Communication has also become cheaper, quicker, and more efficient due to technology. We can now communicate with anyone around the globe by simply text messaging them or sending them an email for an almost instant response. Broadly speaking, technology is how people modify the world to suit their own purposes. It became so much attached to us and so hard to get by without it. However, we have to find ways to initiate our dependency from technology and to make it less harmful to us. Everything has a good side as much as it has a bad side as well. As a start, future technology developments should be invented only if needed, not when wanted or desired. That's a good start to make us depend less on technology.
The impact of technology on our lives is overwhelmingly both positive and negative. We have become the servants of the machine we have created to serve us. Humans are becoming more and more reliant on machines to do simple activities, such as changing the channel or traveling. I agree that technology does make activities uncomplicated, and genuinely makes life easier, but how can a person stay physically fit and healthy when they do nothing themselves? It would be satisfactory to see humanity as a whole spend more time outside and appreciate the world we live in.
