When you talk about prejudice this is when a person has already formed an opinion before hand. I have not experienced any of this before, but I have seen other people go through this before. When a person talks about race religion and other things this can be prejudice. When a person looks and can relate to not liking a specific race this is considered prejudice. We as people know what prejudice means and how it comes in all colors or shapes. Researchers found that prejudice started back in the 1920 they did this to prove white supremacy did exist.
Theorists often viewed prejudice as pathological and they looked for different personality syndromes linked to racism. Prejudice can be nationalism and it can be sexism. A person can be prejudice towards sexual orientation and it could be about classism. When you have hatred for someone's sexual orientation this is a form of prejudice. When a person's hatred is so intense because of one's sexual orientation is called homophobia.
Due to social psychologists call it the vividness effect, some tendency to notice certain characteristics the population tends to have their own conclusions like how gays flaunt their sexuality. Some people feel like heterosexuals are privileged group but minimize homosexuals groups as controversial. When you have some religious that teach their members how to tolerate those who are different so you will have compassion throughout history some have been in instances where as religions has been used so they could promote hate. When you have people that believe a woman is less than a man this is often called sexism because this too is a way of prejudice. A lot of people think that a man can be mentally and physically capable of more things than a woman can be.
Researchers are still trying to figure out how people's feeling and thoughts can be influenced by others. When you see someone who has been through any of these situations it is hard to watch because I believe people should not be prejudice against anyone. There are a lot of prejudice people in the world but there are also people who are prejudice in so many different ways than one.
Is racial profiling a defensible public policy? Scott Johnson claims that law enforcement needs to engage in profiling under certain circumstances in order to be effective. David A. Harris claims that racial profiling is ineffective and damaging to our diverse nation. He believes it hinders effective law enforcement. Racial profiling is discrimination by which the law enforcement uses a person's race or cultural background as a reason to suspect the individual is doing harm. My stance is that racial profiling it not defensible because it violates the rights of America's citizens. According to Attorney General John Ashcroft, "Using race... as a proxy for potential criminal behavior is unconstitutional, and it undermines the confidence that people can have in law enforcement."
