Slaughter of Animals for Food
In this country, we have a lot of meat producer. These people grow animals from birth to a certain period to then kill them and use their meat to sell. If you would see how these animals are treated and the condition in which they are in, you wouldn't even think about eating the meat that you buy in the supermarket even if they are a very known a popular brand. Even though the popular brands offer best quality meat in their products, they still have the animals in unsanitary conditions. These popular brands such as Tyson and Perdue have control on the meat industry; they are the ones who say what others should do and how to do it and other individuals who work for them have to obey their orders if they want to continue getting income and survive in the industry. Overall the meat industry in this country really needs some correction.
This all started as factory farming, in around the 1920's. Back then was when they started to inject the animals with vitamins and antibiotic. It is nothing compared to what we have now, which is now mass production. In the production of the animals and procedures, the animals suffer a lot. They are mistreated tremendously such like no living being should be treated. As seen in many videos all over the web, you can see how they treat them. Some animals are smashed into a wall by a machine, killed in an assembly line, others are stunned by electricity, some have their neck sliced and bleed out, and also shot. All these methods are so graphic and mind blowing to watch. You can see the pain the animals go through and the agony. These animals shouldn't be killed in these ways; they have feelings and don't deserve to die in these forms. They should find different ways to kill them silently minimizing the pain, such as maybe a pill that puts them to sleep or such.
According to an article titled "The Slaughter of Animals for Food", when an animal is electrically stunned they feel a lot of pain, this is based on evidence, "Burns occur at the sites of contact with the electrodes.... Powerful muscle contraction causes painful cramps". In other words humans and animals are almost the same, whatever a human being feels when they electrified or shot etc... it's the same feeling for an animal. Many people may argue that it is not so, but they try to detach the animal feeling from the food they buy to eat or the fur coat the use. Animals slaughtering is mainly for the most part ignored.
On top of treating the animals bad, the conditions in which they are in are unhealthy for both animal and human. The animals are kept bunched together in an animal house, where they poop and urine all over. This can cause a disease throughout the animals, and also infect them meat. Since some are killed in the animal house, these diseases can be transferred to the meat which then are transferred to us human that eat that and can cause death. According to an article named "Slaughterhouses and processing", E. coli is one bacterium that is found most commonly in association to the meat. Others mentioned are salmonella and campylobacter. All these up rise from the unsanitary conditions that they have the animals.
"After collecting ground beef samples from meat processing plants around the country in 1996, the USDA determined that 7.5% of the beef samples were contaminated with Salmonella, 11.7% were
