Simple Tennis
Be thinking…Weight transferring towards the target, being balanced and knowing where on the frame to make contact for different shots are the basics.
Power comes from legs, turning the hips, and turning shoulders into ball.
On all shots- Keep weight on back foot and pushing off the ball of your back foot into the court and towards the direction of shot onto your front foot.
Hit forehand like clearing plates off a table rolling over the top, only brushing up when ball is below the net
Gain control by imparting spin, e.g. to drop shot, slice under the ball, more spin the sharper u slice racquet parallel to net
Volleys –Try to keep elbow in gut at start and move through the ball keeping wrist up and extending arm through ball and transferring weight from back foot into front while contacting the ball-power comes from transfer from hip, legs and butt of hand
Forehand volley hit w/ bottom right part of frame (for righties), backhand bottom left section of frame leading with bottom edge.
Hit serve like tossing a football up and through the ball aiming up through and snapping wrist to bring ball down into box
In general…
Always reflecting , calibrating, each shot to find the feel and rhythm
Take emotions out and just focus on fundamentals and feel
Watch players and emulate their tempo and find a pace/rhythm u can adopt
Most players miss themselves and go for too much
Serving-Hit up through the ball toss the ball up and to the right to go after hit Toss ball lower and lengthen the swing - in Wind
Toss ball up to the right and swing through snapping wrist
Toss ball up to the right of your front foot if you allowed it to land and bounce
Swing up brushing up for spin
Groundstrokes-Hold racket loose and hit at 4:30-5 o’clock on ball
Go get em;)
