Ray Rice Essay

                                        Shunning

People everyday get shunned by society. Famous people mostly get shunned today because of their popularity. People judge and make fun of people all the time. Whenever a famous person gets in trouble or does something wrong everyone in the world knows about it and changes their view of them. People are shunned because people like to judge others. If someone does something wrong like a famous actor they automatically shunned and made fun of by the world. People are very judgemental and like when famous people do things wrong. Shunning has been going on forever and wont go away. People like to stay away from things or people they don't like so they shun it or them.

Ray Rice, a Ravens football player, was with his wife and hit her. He knocked her out in an elevator and dragged her out of the elevator. Ray was one of the top NFL running backs and was making a lot of money. He was going to have  great NFL season. He made a mistake that got him shunned by his fans and almost everyone. He was with his wife and he hit her and she hit her head on the elevator railing and was knocked out. He later dragged her out of the elevator and made it look like nothing had ever happened. He nevers said what happened and denied it happening. Later a video of his domestic violence happening and he quickly became shunned by the whole NFL and all of his fans.

Ray Rice went through many trials for his wrongdoings. He was charged with domestic violence. Once the NFL commissioner saw the video he immediately suspended Ray Rice from playing in any NFL games and he lost his contract. Most of the NFL shunned him from now on. When his suspension is done, no team will want him on his team because of the fact he hit his wife and was charged with domestic violence. The media has him all over the place being a terrible person and saying that he should not be allowed in the NFL anymore. The media shows bad things only about him and now pretty much everyone is shunning him. When someone like Ray rice or any other popular person does something bad the media gathers the information the puts it out across the internet and tv for people to see and make it seem like the person that did something should be shunned pretty much. Ray Rice was Affected by the shunning badly. He is now unable to play in the NFL and has permanently been shunned by all of his fans because of what he did.

Ray Rice and Hester Prynne are very similar in how they were shunned and how the took on their mistakes.  Ray Rice in an interview said that he knew of his mistakes and was not going to go against them. He did not deny the fact that he did something wrong and was willing to take the consequences. Just like Ray Rice, hester took full responsibility of her bad actions. She cheated on her husband and when she was put on the scaffolding she said that she will take the consequences and will not deny them. Her conquense was to where the Scarlet A and where it all the time. Both Ray Rice and Hester Prynne took their shunning the right way and said that they knew they did a bad thing. They did not deny it and were willing to have that shunning on them.
