The overhead press is often a standard move in most routines because it hits every part of the shoulder with an emphasis on the front and middle part of the deltoid. This is also a tough exercise because you're pressing a weight over your head, so you may not be able to lift as much weight for this move as you do for other exercises. If you're using a heavy weight, you might want to sit on a chair or bench that has back support. 1.Using a medium-heavy barbell, hold bar with hands a little wider than shoulder-width apart.

2.Start by bringing the bar up to forehead level, elbows bent.

Range-of-motion is the phrase used to describe how much a joint can move. Normal range-of-motion varies from joint to joint. For example, the shoulder has more mobility than any other joint in the body. Normal shoulder range-of-motion allows people to raise their arm above their head so that their arm is touching their ear. Patients with range-of-motion limitations often cannot raise their arm as high.

The easiest way to look for a loss of range-of-motion is to compare your injured joint to the joint on the opposite side of your body. Your doctor or therapist may also perform more precise tests to determine the exact range-of-motion of a joint.

*Beginners: Choose 1-2 exercises, 1-2 sets of 12-16 reps

*Inter/Adv:: Choose one or more exercises from each column for 2-3 sets of 8-12 reps, resting between sets

*Use enough weight or resistance that you can ONLY complete the desired number of reps
